Inclusive Education

There is still no fixed definition of inclusion and legislation is often critiqued by focusing on disability or on issues of advantage and marginalisation. Considering ‘inclusion’ as referring to all learners, this book surveys the concept of inclusive practice in its broadest sense and examines its implementation in differing educational institutions. It assesses key theories and concepts and illustrates them with examples from a range of settings. Each chapter highlights international and conflicting perspectives, discussion questions, group tasks, case studies and further reading to encourage Education Studies students to think critically and reappraise their own experience as learners.
